Installation#

Download#

  • You can download the Blender 4.2 Alpha built using the USD branch from the NVIDIA NGC Catalog.

Warning

Please ensure you are using Blender Alpha provided by NVIDIA as the connector is only compatible with these versions. All older versions of the Blender Alpha app and connectors are available on the Omniverse Launcher until they are deprecated on October 1, 2025.

Install#

Follow these steps to install the Omniverse Connector:

  1. Download the Installer: Visit the NGC Catalog to download the latest version.

  2. Unzip the Package: Once downloaded, unzip the package to access the installer.

  3. Run the Installer: Locate and run the .exe file to start the installation process.

  4. License Agreement: Read and accept the Omniverse Software License Agreement.

  5. Choose Installation Location:

    • Default Location: Install in the default directory provided by the installer.

    • Specific Location: You may also choose to install it in a different folder.

  • After installation, you should see the Omniverse Connector listed in the Windows Add/Remove Programs panel, indicating successful installation.

Uninstall#

To uninstall, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Windows Add/Remove Programs Panel: This can be found in the Windows Control Panel.

  2. Locate the application: Look for Blender Alpha in the list of installed programs.

  3. Uninstall: Click on the Uninstall button to remove the connector from your system.

Note

If you installed the connector in a specific location, ensure that you have the necessary permissions to uninstall it.

Blender OpenUSD and Omniverse support#

  • Blender’s OpenUSD and Omniverse support will continue to be compatible with the Blender Foundation’s Long-Term Support (LTS) releases.

  • Starting with Blender 4.5, Omniverse add-ons and connectors will be updated for compatibility and can be installed as add-ons within the official Blender LTS releases from the Blender Foundation.

  • NVIDIA will stop producing custom Blender Alpha builds, with all USD fixes and features now integrated into the official Blender LTS releases.

Legacy Blender Alpha#

  • Old versions Blender Alpha apps are available on the Omniverse Launcher until they are deprecated on October 1, 2025.

  • The Omniverse Blender Alpha USD 4.2 build will continue to be available on the NGC catalog.
