Navigate a Scene
Much like a physical space, it’s important to be able to easily get around in a large, complex virtual space in order to evaluate process and layout decisions and changes.
Review Mode Navigation Tools
When you open a scene in applications built on the USD Explorer template, you’ll find yourself in Review mode. This full-screen viewport helps you focus on the scene, and hides unnecessary toolbars for viewing and reviewing. While in Review mode, you can move around using Orbit or Teleport, use your mouse to Pan, Dolly, or Look around, and fly around your scene using keyboard navigation.
Layout Mode Navigation Tools
In Layout mode, you’ll have the same mouse (Pan, Dolly, Look) and keyboard (Fly) navigation tools as you had in Review mode. Additionally the tools necessary to build large industrial facilities can be accessed by the power users assembling them.
For more information on how to use the navigation tools available in the USD Explorer template, review the documentation.
Waypoints
Another valuable feature for navigation is Waypoints, which allow you to save views that may be points of interest later on. They are a great way to set up locations for interactive agendas during collaborative planning sessions. You can add new Waypoints and jump to previously saved Waypoints by using the Waypoint manager in Review mode. Waypoints will be covered in the Annotation Tools section of this guide.
